Picture bingo is a fantastic activity for aged care settings as it is inclusive, easy to participate in and suitable for a wide range of cognitive and physical abilities. Using pictures and words makes the game accessible for individuals who may be living with low literacy, vision challenges or dementia, while still encouraging recognition, concentration and memory recall.
STEP 1
Download and print the provided bingo templates, which includes player cards and calling cards. We recommend printing onto cardboard.
STEP 2
Cut out the calling cards along the black lines. You may also wish to laminate all cards so they can be easily wiped down and re-used. If the residents help with this step, supervision is recommended when using scissors and a laminator.
STEP 3
Give each participant a player card and shuffle the calling cards, placing them in a pile face down. Flip over one calling card at a time and announce it out loud. Have the participants mark it off on their player cards if it appears. Continue calling until someone gets BINGO!
